Numeracy
The number boards encourage layered learning. While children learn to form numbers, they simultaneously learn basic number concepts such as the order of numbers and the relative size of numbers. Basic calculation skills are also stimulated as children learn that ‘more than’ means add and ‘less than’ means subtract. Children who have well consolidated number concepts, tend to cope better with Maths. | ||
The shape boards consolidate basic shape knowledge while introducing a few new elements. Through these boards children learn that shapes stay constant no matter their size or position. They also encourage the application of shape knowledge as the individual shapes can be used to create pictures and patterns. This application of knowledge creates a firm foundation for subjects such as Geometry and Technology |
